California continues to experience record wildfires. The CUPA Forum Board (CFB), in conjunction with the California Conference of Directors of Environmental Health (CCDEH) has been working for several years on a mutual assistance plan to provide local resources to disaster events. The Disaster Emergency Assistance Plan (DEAP) is the beginning of this effort and is a work in progress. With all the local experiences and lessons learned in the last several years, new efforts and identified gaps need to be addressed. The Disaster Symposiums in May 2022 & August 2018 are an effort to identify and prioritize those gaps. Boilerplate forms and a summary of the recent major events is also included and we encourage all local UPAs and Directors become familiar with the documents and suggested protocols. As always, comments and suggestions are welcome and encouraged. Let's do this together!
The CFB has long identified training as a core function of the organization with an annual unified program training conference as the hallmark event. In addition, through a Training Issue Coordinator, training events, opportunities, and planning activities are facilitated through regional training coordinators (RTCs) in each of the four CUPA Forum Regions.
